Global Police Team Up After Murder in Ireland: Jamey Carney’s Case
On a bright Tuesday in County Kerry, Irish police (Gardaí) responded to a tragic scene where a woman in her 40s, Jamey Carney, was declared dead at a Killarney house. Carney, originally from New York, had moved to the area five years earlier and lived with her daughter.
The suspect, known to the victim, fled the area soon after the incident. Gardaí report he left Ireland via bus to Dublin and then flew to the Middle East, settling in Jordan.
Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan confirmed that Irish police are ‘engaging’ with international partners. Interpol and Europol have been alerted, and Gardaí are seeking cooperation from Jordanian authorities. While there is no extradition treaty between Ireland and Jordan, officials stressed that every line of inquiry will be pursued to bring the suspect to justice.
O’Callaghan expressed condolences to Carney’s family and emphasized the certainty of Gardaí’s effort, saying, “It obviously is difficult, but we will pursue every angle.”
