A Harrowing Stabbing Hits Times Square

Late Wednesday afternoon, a 32‑year‑old woman was fatally stabbed in the heart of Times Square. A suspect, a 49‑year‑old woman named Pamela Cisneros, was later shot dead by NYPD officers.

The attacks stretched across about 20 meters of Seventh Avenue, starting near West 41st Street. The first victim, a 68‑year‑old man, was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Police reports say Cisneros had no prior arrests but did have documented mental‑health encounters. Officers tried to de‑escalate for four minutes, then used Tasers, which failed to stop her; they then fired shots that ended the fight.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani thanked the officers for preventing a “horrific attack from becoming even worse.” The city continues to monitor crowd safety.
