Global Crackdown – In a sweeping operation called Jackal IV, 58 suspects linked to West African cyber‑crime networks were arrested across 22 countries and six continents.
The raid exposed romance & investment scams that target retirees in English‑speaking nations, as well as sextortion tactics used on minors as young as 14.
South Africa’s role was prominent: 39 arrests, £1.96 million seized, and 257 bank accounts blocked.
Interpol’s director of finance, Tomonobu Kaya, said the operation proved “the power of international cooperation.”
This is the latest in a series of Jackal operations, including 300 arrests in 2024’s Jackal III. The Black Axe group remains a focal point, seen as a global criminal network rooted in Nigeria.
