Romanian prosecutors accuse Andrew and Tristan Tate of orchestrating sexual exploitation and money laundering, adding fresh charges to their already‑complicated legal battles.

The former kickboxer‑turned‑influencers are now facing additional Romanian charges, including trafficking minors and money laundering. Prosecutors allege that Andrew Tate coerced a 15‑year‑old girl into paid video‑chat sex acts, and that both brothers moved her from the UK to Romania. They are also accused of controlling and exploiting her through surveillance and aggression. Although the brothers are in Miami jail fighting extradition, they deny all allegations and say the media persona is not their true selves.

Romanian prosecutors add fresh charges to the controversial influencers’ legal woes.

They’re accused of earning more than $1.2m by coercing a 15‑year‑old girl into paid video‑chat sex acts and of moving her from Bedfordshire to Romania to continue the exploitation.

Andrew Tate faces charges of trafficking minors, money laundering and sex with a minor, while his brother Tristan is charged with complicity in trafficking and laundering.

The brothers, both former kickboxers with dual US and British citizenship, have been under investigation in Romania since December 2022, despite living there mainly since 2017 and building a huge online following with a mix of luxury lifestyle flaunting and misogynistic messages.

DiIcot investigators say Andrew controlled the girl through constant surveillance, physical aggression and threatened that she was unable to leave. They also allege that he took her to two separate Romanian homes while continuing the sexual exploitation.

The case also involves the confiscation of four luxury cars worth £710,000, with prosecutors claiming money was laundered through the purchases.

Legal defence

Lawsuit attorney Eugen Constantin Vidineac says the indictment does not prove guilt and reminds that the presumption of innocence must apply. He also noted that earlier indictment had “significant irregularities” preventing trial and that the new plea undergoes rigorous judicial scrutiny.

The brothers currently hold a Miami jail room while fighting extradition to the UK over unrelated charges, and they have denied all allegations, claiming their online personas are not real personalities.
