It’s a chilling story circulating over social media: In Pattaya, Thailand, authorities discovered a 17‑year‑old teen’s body stuffed inside a suitcase.
Police say an Australian man named Simon Peter Carman was arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, allegedly attempting to flee the country.
He denies the charges, saying he was tired and that the incident was out of his control. In a video recorded while in custody, he sent a brief message to the victim’s family stating: "I feel bad for what happened to your daughter. It was out of my control. I know you’ll be very sad, upset…same as me. Please tell other girls…just to be careful."
Residual CCTV footage shows Carman entering a condominium with the victim on Thursday morning, then leaving alone with a large suitcase. He was seen loading the bag onto a motorbike heading towards a railway track the following night.
Police officers later found the naked body inside the suitcase about fifteen minutes after the pickup. Investigators noted scratches on Carman’s hands that could indicate a struggle, though he denies any involvement.
Carman could face the death penalty if convicted of murder. The victim’s family is devastated; her father and step‑mother expressed deep grief and anger over the tragedy.
Authorities are still gathering evidence, warning anyone travelling to the area to stay aware and safe.
