What Happened?


A Friday morning at Debsirin School just outside Bangkok, a 14‑year‑old shot a 9‑mm handgun, killing five teachers and wounding more than 20 students and staff.

A seventh‑grad student, who remains unnamed, recounted standing in front of the teacher when the gun went off. "I thought she’d never see me again," she told the BBC.



Why It’s So Shocking


Police suspect the gun was the teenager’s grandfather’s, and investigative reports mention pressure from school life and an interest in video games. No definite motive has been found yet.
