Family Survives 16‑Hour Jet‑Ski Rescue Off Thailand

A 50‑year‑old French father and his two young sons were left stranded on a jet‑ski off the popular island of Koh Samui for more than 16 hours after the boat capsized.

The trio were only discovered when rescuers were alerted that their rental had not returned at the agreed time. Speedboats and additional jet‑skis combed the waters around Koh Samui and the nearby island of Koh Phangan, but the search had to be paused overnight.

The family was finally located the next morning, still drifting in the sea. All wore life jackets and, despite appearing pale and exhausted after swallowing large amounts of seawater, they were alive.

They were taken to a hospital for check‑ups and were discharged shortly thereafter. The mother and older sister waited on the beach, relieved to see their family brought back to safety.

The incident underscores the importance of safety gear, clear communication with rental operators, and the readiness of local rescue services. The family remains in Thailand and continues their holiday, thanks to timely rescue efforts.
