Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a directive on Saturday demanding that any threat from “enemies” be met with an immediate, effective response that knows no geographical limits, according to a statement posted on his official website.
The announcement came as tensions in the region rise, and the leader’s words were published in a brief brief by the state news agency Xinhua. It stresses readiness to counter all levels and kinds of hostile action.
"Immediate and effective" response was the phrasing used to describe how the Iranian government should act, according to Xinhua’s coverage.
In a second Xinhua briefing, the order was described as “geographically unrestricted,” underscoring the leadership’s intention to counter any perceived threat wherever it originates.
