Ukrainian overnight strikes hit a major Russian oil refinery, Engels airfield and Wildberries hub – a new phase of long‑range sanctions.

Ukrainian forces launched a series of drones and missile strikes deep into Russian territory, targeting key strategic sites including a Saratov oil refinery, Engels airfield used for strategic aviation, and a Wildberries logistics hub. Russia reports eight casualties, 635 drones intercepted and noted further supply‑chain blows. The attacks underscore a fierce escalation amid a largely static front line.

Ukrainian forces bombed four critical Russian sites overnight, including the Engels airfield and the Saratov region oil refinery, 600 km from the border.
President Volodymyr Zelensky called these attacks “our long‑range sanctions” against facilities that finance Moscow’s war.

The strike ignited a blaze at the Engels airfield, a hub for Russia’s strategic bomber fleet – the Tu‑95MC and Tu‑160 – previously used to launch missile attacks on Ukrainian territory.

In the Kaluga region a separate drone strike targeted an oil depot, while a launcher in Bryansk was also hit. Russian officials reported eight Ukrainian casualties and said 635 drones were shot down.

Across the front line, Ukraine also struck a Wildberries warehouse in Samara’s Wildberries logistics hub, allegedly supplying the Russian military with drone components and navigation gear. No casualties were reported.

The attacks highlight a new phase of targeted strikes that aim not only to disrupt supply chains but also to weaken morale ahead of any political or peace breakthrough.
