On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Oliver Blanco met in Madrid on the sidelines of the 30th Ibero‑American Summit.

The Brazilian foreign ministry shared a statement on X that the two ministers discussed trade relations and cooperation on Amazon region issues.

During the meeting, Vieira invited Blanco to make an official visit to Brazil so that the two countries could resume their broader bilateral agenda.

The invite reflects both sides’ interest in deepening trade ties and joint efforts over the Amazon, a shared environmental area.

Venezuela said it seeks stronger economic cooperation with Brazil, echoing Brazil’s aim to expand access to Venezuelan markets.

The ministers emphasized the importance of regional cooperation for environmental and development goals in the Amazon basin.

Both ministries noted that the discussion marks a step toward a broader resumption of diplomatic relations following previous periods of limited engagement.

After the summit, Brazil and Venezuela plan to set dates for Blanco’s official visit and continue negotiations on their bilateral agenda.

The outreach highlights a renewed push for enhanced ties between the two South American neighbors.
