Football Star Survives Gun Attack in Johannesburg
Zimbabwean international Divine Lunga narrowly escaped a sinister gun attack this Sunday while driving through Johannesburg’s Hillbrow suburb.

According to local reports, Lunga and his younger brother were heading to church when the car was suddenly hit with live rounds. The shooter apparently mistook them for an undercover police officer, leading to a chaotic shooting scene.
Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said the case is classified as an attempted murder, but no suspect has been brought to justice so far. The incident highlights the high crime rate that South Africa faces.
Lunga has featured in 21 national caps for Zimbabwe and has helped Mamelodi Sundowns claim four league titles as well as a Champions League trophy in May. Despite the shock, he remains in good health and continues training.
Zimbabwe’s national side, nicknamed the Warriors, posted a short shout‑out on social media: “In God we trust” with Lunga’s picture in a prayer pose, showing support for the player.
