Platinum Diamond Heist! 600‑Star Necklace Gone From Vienna Museum

Just past noon, a pair of suspects smashed a glass display case inside the Vienna Museum of Applied Arts and grabbed a platinum necklace studded with more than 600 diamonds. The dazzling piece, formerly worn by Queen Nazli in 1939, is estimated at 4 million dollars.
Police released CCTV footage and urged anyone with information to come forward. One suspect is believed to have carried a firearm, and detectives say the thieves crashed into the nearby Stadtpark fleeing the scene.
The robbery follows a string of high‑profile museum lootings across Europe, including stolen pieces from Spanish, Italian and French institutions. Europol warns that “violent, forceful methods” are increasing, hinting at new criminal networks in play.
The museum is repairing its security systems after the raid. Though the necklace is missing, the exhibition has reopened with other temporary displays, and experts are still analysing evidence from the crime scene.
