On July 17, 2014, TASS reported that explosions heard on Iran’s Qeshm Island were linked to activity in the Strait of Hormuz and were not caused by an attack. The report cited Tasnim News and an eyewitness who said the sounds came from maritime operations rather than an assault on the island. Earlier, the Iranian state news agency IRNA had reported explosions in the eastern part of the island, but TASS emphasized that these were not hostile incidents.

In a later development, an Internazionale article dated November 7, 2026, reported that the semi‑official Tasnim news agency had said two missiles struck Qeshm Island with no official information on damage. The article suggests a different interpretation of the events, implying that missiles were involved.
