A Chinese medical team finished a four‑day free‑care camp in Zanzibar's Kinduni Health Center and treated more than 5,000 residents, Xinhua reported on Nov. 8.
The 36th Chinese team to visit Zanzibar was invited by the Maisha Bora Foundation, led by first lady Mariam Mwinyi, and offered consultations and treatments across multiple medical departments.
Team leader Wang Wei said specialists worked alongside local doctors, exchanging diagnostic expertise and demonstrating practical techniques on site, which helped improve local clinicians' technical skills and clinical capabilities.
Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, Zanzibar's second‑vice president, presented the team with a certificate of appreciation during a closing ceremony, noting that China’s long‑running medical mission has produced tangible results and symbolizes a deep friendship between the two peoples.
Wang Wei expressed hope that more joint medical outreach camps will be arranged in the future to build lasting health capacity and improve residents’ well‑being.
