In brief

China's Foreign Ministry announced that special envoys will travel to Iran, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Egypt and Eritrea in early to mid‑November. The mission aims to advance President Xi Jinping’s peace initiatives and a set of "four principles" for Africa. The envoys will conduct concurrent visits, encouraging dialogue and easing regional tensions.

China will send three special envoys to six countries in the Middle East and Africa during the first half of November to promote peace and stability, the Foreign Ministry said on November 2.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning named Zhai Jun as the Middle‑East envoy who will visit Iran, Oman and Saudi Arabia. He is expected to discuss ways to help calm tensions in the region.

Another envoy, Liu Xianfa, will focus on African affairs and will travel to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Egypt. His visit is aimed at supporting local governments on security and economic issues.

In the Horn of Africa, Hu Changchun will go to Eritrea in early November. The mission is part of Beijing’s broader effort to bring together different parties in the area.

Mao noted that the envoys will implement President Xi Jinping’s initiatives on boosting peace and security in the Middle East, and will also carry forward the "four principles" that China has put forward for resolving urgent issues in Africa.

China said the representatives would conduct concurrent visits to several countries, fostering reconciliation, dialogue and easing tensions to preserve regional peace and stability.

By deploying diplomats to these strategic locations, Beijing hopes to play a constructive role in shaping the political landscape in both the Middle East and Africa.
