A private jet crashed into a South Florida neighborhood on Saturday night, killing all nine people on board. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg confirmed the deaths on his official X account, saying the aircraft was a Gulfstream G150 that had taken off from a Miami‑based charter company.

In a separate report posted by U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, the jet was described as a Learjet 60 that had departed from Austin, Texas, and was bound for the Bahamas. The reports say both flights hit residential streets at night, with no survivors.

All nine people on board were killed.

Buttigieg added that the pilot had 14,000 flight hours and the jet had flown six hours before the accident, while investigators are looking at meteorological factors and possible pilot error as leading possibilities.

Frankly, the crash has shocked communities across Florida that rely on aviation for commuting and emergencies. Emergency crews reached the scene within minutes, but all onboard were found dead, according to preliminary reports from the Florida Department of State Police and the Florida Bureau of Investigation.

The Federal Aviation Administration has dispatched a team to aid the National Transportation Safety Board investigation, and the Department of Transportation is working with local law enforcement to collect wreckage evidence and interview witnesses.

A determination of the cause is expected once the full accident investigation is complete. The incident highlights the importance of air‑traffic and safety oversight in the region, especially as the flight industry expands for commuters and emergency services.
