Tiger Woods to change plea after crash arrest

Former golf star Tiger Woods will be in court Wednesday morning in Martin County to change his plea after a March rollover crash in Florida. He was arrested for driving under the influence and refused a urine test for other drugs.

Police released body‑camera footage in April that captured the aftermath of the incident. The clip shows Woods crawling out of his vehicle, knelt calmly, and saying, “I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden, boom.” He told officers he had not drank alcohol that day, but had taken prescription medication earlier that morning.

Later investigators found two white pills in his pocket, identified as hydrocodone, a prescription opioid used for pain. Officers suspect the “unknown substance” had impaired his faculties.

Woods announced on social media that he is stepping away to pursue treatment and focus on his wellbeing, calling it the first step toward lasting recovery. The crash is his second arrest for suspected driving under the influence.
