Sam Neill in Jurassic Park

Sam Neill, the New Zealand‑born screen star, is best known for his iconic role as Dr Alan Grant in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 hit Jurassic Park.

Before dinosaurs, Neill played the adult anti‑Christ Damien in the 1981 horror classic The Omen III, then teamed with Nicole Kidman for the psychological thriller Dead Calm in 1989.

He returned to the dinosaur world in Jurassic Park III (2001) and was part of the 2022 epic Jurassic World Dominion, reuniting the original cast for a final hurrah.

Outside Hollywood, Neill brought his talent to the BBC series Merlin (1998), its 2006 follow‑up, the gritty Peaky Blinders (2020‑21), and the drama Apples Never Fall with Annette Bening.

At the height of his career, he also starred opposite Sean Connery in the 1990 submarine thriller The Hunt for Red October.

Sam Neill’s death at 78 leaves fans with a filmography that ranges from blockbusters to art‑house classics, a testament to a versatile talent who will be remembered forever by cinema lovers worldwide.
