The flight was scheduled to land at Boston’s Logan Airport by 01:30 EDT, but the FAA lost contact with the aircraft shortly after 01:00 local time.
A sprawling search over the waters near Nantucket stretched into Sunday evening. The Coast Guard eventually stopped looking after a debris field matching the missing plane was found.
Latitude Air Ambulance, the Canadian operator of the flight, released a statement saying each of the six people on board‑two pilots, two medical staff, a patient and a family escort‑are presumed dead.
“It is an unimaginable loss,” said the company’s president.
