Survivors Find Shelter on the Field
The twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela on Wednesday left many families without homes. In the northern town of Catia la Mar, a famous baseball stadium became a lifeline for refugees. With no time to regroup, survivors set up tents and slept on the grass, all while hoping for help to come fast.
Donated food and clothing from local charities keep them fed and warm as they wait for government assistance. The field’s open yard has turned into an impromptu camp, where neighbor and stranger alike share supplies and support.
Officials promise that temporary housing will arrive soon, but for now, the stadium’s bleachers serve as a makeshift shelter that reminds people that teamwork and compassion can outweigh even the hardest disasters.
