In brief
In 2024, Israel's Defense Ministry reported that the nation sold approximately $14.8 billion worth of weapons, breaking the previous record of $13 billion set in 2023. This surge in military exports coincided with ongoing warfare on multiple fronts, specifically in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. While the Israeli forces engaged in these conflicts, their arms manufacturers took advantage of rising demand in Europe for protection against Russian aggression.
Despite domestic economic strains due to prolonged war efforts, the increase in arms sales provides a sliver of economic respite. Notably, the United States also provided over $17.9 billion in military aid to Israel in the past year, further intertwining the two nations' military support systems. While Israel's exports are considerably smaller in comparison to the $200 billion in American arms sales, they reveal Israel's aggressive pursuit of new markets during challenging times.
