On Nov. 2, 2026 the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said it had stopped a series of attacks planned by Ukrainian special services that hid explosives in first‑person view (FPV) goggles, which were disguised as humanitarian aid for Russian soldiers.

Discovery of the devices

A Russian serviceman in the Volgograd region told the FSB after receiving two pairs of FPV goggles from a volunteer. Inspectors found that the cooling fans normally used in the goggles had been replaced with improvised explosive devices. The bombs were designed to detonate when the goggles were turned on.

The FSB reported that security agencies in several other regions seized similar devices from postal services, indicating a broader effort to deliver the weapons to troops across the country.

Legal response and ongoing investigation

Following these findings, the FSB opened a criminal case against those involved. Authorities have not yet named the suspects, but the case signals a serious response to the alleged sabotage attempt.

Sources say the FSB’s quick action prevented a potential attack on Russian servicemen. The incident underscores the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the use of hidden weapons as part of the broader warfare tactics.
