In brief
From November 6 to 15, AlUla will welcome visitors to its deserts for hot‑air balloon trips, guided night walks, stargazing sessions, and a spectacular Leonid meteor shower. The initiative, part of the city’s Dark Sky status, aims to promote eco‑friendly tourism and showcase AlUla’s heritage.
AlUla, a desert city in Saudi Arabia, will hold a series of nature‑oriented events from November 6 to 15, 2026, to attract tourists and highlight its landscapes and heritage, Saudi Press Agency said.
The program includes hot‑air balloon rides that offer panoramic views of the unique terrain, expert‑led stargazing sessions, and open‑air cinema screenings under the clear night sky.
Visitors will also see the Leonid meteor shower, expected to produce about 20 meteors per hour when conditions are ideal, the press agency added.
The 10‑day schedule features the HUSAAK initiative, with guided walks that let guests stroll under a star‑starred sky while learning about local culture and ecology.
AlUla’s designation as the first "Dark Sky" site in the region helps preserve natural light conditions, and four remote locations—AlUla Manara, AlGharameel Nature Reserve, Sharaan National Park, and Wadi Nakhlah Nature Reserve—have also earned international Dark Sky Place status.
The initiative is part of AlUla’s broader push to promote sustainable tourism by combining outdoor adventure with education about its natural and cultural heritage after dark.
