Al Masaood Energy and TotalEnergies unveiled a new operations hub at the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi that will run entirely on solar power. The centre, highlighted during ADIPEC 2026, uses a 2.5 MW solar installation that will walk a big part of its energy needs from the sun.

"The project helps us cut the emissions associated with our facility’s energy consumption by more than 60 %," said Ibrahim Al Hashidi, regional manager for the renewable‑energy division. The move is a key step in the company’s strategy to reach 50 % lower operational emissions by 2029. The goal comes before the UAE’s broader net‑zero targets.

The collaboration mixes Al Masaood’s local expertise with TotalEnergies’ experience in large‑scale renewable projects. It shows that the oil and gas industry is adding clean‑energy options to its portfolio.

Electricity from the solar array will cover all day‑time operations, reducing the need for grid power and cutting fumes that normally come from oil‑driven generators. The reduction works across the whole hub, meaning a single location will become 60 % less polluting.

Al Masaood says the CO₂ savings from the solar hub will help the company meet a target of cutting its own emissions by 50 % by 2029, ahead of the UAE’s goal of net‑zero emissions by the end of the decade. The company says it will keep building on this momentum by adding more renewable sites in the coming years.
