In a landmark move, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a joint defence agreement in Mecca.

The pact declares an attack on one member as an attack on all, solidifying collective security among the three nations.

It follows a similar Saudi–Pakistan pact signed last year and directly addresses protecting vital shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, which have been disrupted amid the broader US‑Iran tension.
