Tiger Woods is preparing to change his plea in court, five months after a rollover crash in Florida that put him on a DUI suspicion. Martin County records show the hearing is this Wednesday morning. The golfer was arrested following the crash that clipped a truck, and he passed a breath‑alyser but refused further drug testing.
He originally pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor DUI and refusal to submit to testing. After the incident, Woods stated he was seeking treatment and facing serious consequences.
Body‑camera footage released in April shows Woods calmly kneeling on one knee while telling officers, “I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden, boom.” No one was hurt; Woods escaped by crawling out through the passenger door.
Policemen said they suspected his normal faculties were impaired by an unknown substance. Later, they found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket, a prescription opioid for pain. Woods later wrote, “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my wellbeing and work toward lasting recovery.”
