Two people have been killed in a domestic violence incident at the private Docemus school near Berlin.
Brandenburg state police arrested a 19‑year‑old German man, whom they consider the prime suspect. They confirmed it was not a mass shooting, but detailed the weapon used remains unknown.
The victim was an 18‑year‑old female student, while the second dead was a 30‑year‑old man who died trying to intervene. Reports link the suspect to the former as his ex‑boyfriend.
Ulrike Liedtke, speaker of Brandenburg’s parliament, labeled the incident a “cowardly femicide,” expressing sorrow and anger at the violence against a woman. State premier Dietmar Woidke described it as an “unimaginable act of violence.”
Michael Kunz, the school’s managing director, announced that classes will be cancelled on Friday but the campus will remain open for students who wish to gather, providing a safe space for discussion. He said decisions on how school life will resume will be made carefully in coming days.
Brandenburg police continue to investigate, while the incident follows a separate attack earlier in Germany where two girls were seriously wounded at a secondary school and a 16‑year‑old suspect was arrested.
