Ariana Grande Takes a Break From Body Talk

Ariana Grande has finally decided to step back from the endless scrutiny that has followed her for years. After a year‑long tour, the pop star said she will give fans a break and focus on her own health.

Three years ago, the singer posted a TikTok warning against comments about her body: "There are many ways to look healthy and beautiful." She followed up this year with a statement that she’ll be stepping away from the public eye after the tour’s end.

The break comes after the release of her eighth album, Petal, and a graphic video that shows Ariana running mock auditions as different pop‑star personas, only to be told she needs to lose weight. The video sparks a wave of comments that mix concern with body shaming.

Her fans rallied in support, trending the hashtag #Weloveyouariana and calling for a stop to body‑shaming. Several messages highlighted that people genuinely worry about her health and called out the need for restraint.

Ariana has been in the spotlight for over 15 years and has survived major personal traumas, from a 2017 arena attack to struggles with PTSD and depression. Her recent foundation, Brighter Days Ahead, supports crew members and performers’ mental health.

In a 2023 interview, she said that the period she was described as the healthiest was actually when she was on antidepressants and eating poorly. She urged fans to be less comfortable commenting on anyone’s appearance, no matter their intention.

She will finish her current tour in Chicago this week and end at London’s O2 Arena on 1 September. After the tour, she will not headline the upcoming stage musical Sunday in the Park with George, planned for 2027.

Despite the media attention, Ariana is focusing on well‑being and hopes her break will set a precedent for emotional‑wellness in pop culture.
