Apple has filed a federal lawsuit against OpenAI and former Apple employees, accusing them of a “pattern of theft” of confidential product data.
Apple alleges that ex‑employees took internal information via email and that interviewers at OpenAI asked prospective hires to bring Apple parts to show during interviews.
The suit targets OpenAI’s alleged strategy to gather Apple’s proprietary manufacturing techniques and unreleased product plans to boost its own hardware ambitions.
Apple says the breach “has laid a shaky foundation” for OpenAI’s nascent hardware business, which is soon to release the first AI‑powered keyboard.
OpenAI, represented by spokesman Drew Pusateri, denied the claims, stating the company “has no interest in other companies’ trade secrets” and is focused on building revolutionary tech for everyone worldwide.
Apple seeks an immediate court order to stop OpenAI from using any alleged confidential information and is claiming unspecified monetary damages for the alleged wrongdoing.
