New Zealand star Sam Neill, 78, has died from pneumonia, confirmed by his agent, after a long battle with non‑Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
He was best known for his role as Dr Alan Grant in Jurassic Park and his chilling part in the BBC drama Peaky Blinders.
Agent Philip Grenz said Sam had been “cancer‑free” after receiving CAR‑T therapy, but a sudden bout of pneumonia ended his life.
Peers and fans worldwide poured out tributes – from Laura Dern to Australia’s prime minister – calling him a hero and legend.
On his 50‑plus‑year career, Neill earned over 150 credits. Posthumous appearances in “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova” and “The Last Resort” will keep his legacy alive.
He leaves behind four children and eight grandchildren.
